On Sunday, Viktor does laundry. He sorts clothes into two piles: light and dark. He reads the labels and sets the machine to a short wash. While the machine turns, he sweeps the floor and washes the cups. The room is quiet except for the soft sound of water. After the wash, he hangs shirts on a line near the window. Sunlight comes in and warms the room. By afternoon, the clothes are dry. They smell clean. Viktor folds them and puts them in the closet. The day feels simple and good.
